On March 29, 2018, the Xth Congress of the Romtransplant Association took place, within the Center of Excellence in Translational Medicine within IC Fundeni. The works were opened by the President of the Romtransplant Association, Prof. Dr. Irinel Popescu, the guests being presented with the congress program and the personalities present.
The first part of the day was dedicated to liver transplantation, and in parallel with the works that exemplified the activity of liver transplant centers in Romania IC Fundeni, Iasi University Center, and the Hospital “St. Maria ”, there was also a live broadcast from the IC Fundeni operating room, where a liver transplant was performed live from the living donor.
A company symposium followed on ways to improve the survival of liver transplant patients, held by Prof. Dr. Irinel Popescu.
The first part of the day ended with the General Assembly of the association, on which occasion the new members of the CD were elected – President of Romtransplant Prof. Dr. Cristian Lupascu, Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dana Tomescu and Secretary General Dr. Bogdan Dorobantu.
After the lunch break, followed the section dedicated to the National Transplant Agency by the presence of the Director of the agency Prof. Dr. Radu Deac who presented the activity and difficulties encountered by the agency, and Dr. Carmen Pantis who highlighted the ways to approach the family for donation of organs.
The third part of the works was dedicated to bone marrow transplantation, which also enjoyed a wide participation, and where the experiences of the centers from Bucharest – IC Fundeni, Coltea Hospital, Municipal Hospital, but also from Tg-Mures were widely presented.
